Afrika Liberation Day (ALD)

Spiritual and cultural observance has been part of the foundational substance of Afrikan life since the beginning. Observances are the imperative assertions of special sacred times that are born from the natural, unique and exceptional knowingness and experience of the Afrikan soul bequeathed by the Creator Supreme. Afrikan spiritual and cultural fabric of life is fundamental to continual ascendancy. Thus, the cycles of observance periods are the essential punctuations for eternal elevation. The eternal elevation or ascendancy is the Afrikan’s maximum potential and capabilities realised throughout the Afrikan continuum. Being a progressive mainstay of fullest flourishing, Afrikan liberty is a key facet that must necessarily be maintained and safeguarded, otherwise the Afrikan exists in a state less than optimal (at best). The assertion of Afrikan observance is in itself a reflection of that liberty. Afrikan observance also implicitly contain the fabric of liberty. Further, there is observance that explicitly pronounce the substance of liberty. One such observance is that of Afrika Liberation Day. The Kiswahili words for Afrika Liberation Day are, Afrika Ukombozi Siku.

The genocidal Maafa imposed by the barbaric foreign hostiles over recent centuries has thrust the Afrikan into a horror filled existence in which the enemy has viciously denied the projection of the Afrikan way. The Afrikan’s time was stolen. Forcibly enslaved to labour on plantations where the only expression of life was to be exclusively for the profit or pleasure of the wicked and criminal so-called master. The bogus intent was to ensure that the Afrikan had no time for him or herself, let alone the assertion of special sacred time of the Afrikan way. Afrikan souls bravely and courageously fought to carve out time for themselves from the most dire of imposed circumstance. Supremely heroic multitudes of Afrikans created independent societies throughout the diaspora that were able to creatively restore the Afrikan way and assert special sacred times of observance.

In the now, Afrikan time continues to be hijacked by foreign forces with far reaching ill intent. In this, the Afrikan can find him or herself not simply void of self-determined time but also compelled to service interests against his or her. What is left for self-determined efforts is small portions of time for recovery from the parasitic pursuits of the enemy. This can render the fight for liberty a challenge but a challenge that is a mere, ‘stepping stone’ for the brilliant first souls of Creation. Afrikan experience also reveals the imperative for attainment, maintenance and safeguarding of Afrikan liberty generationally. Therefore, to explicitly assert the spiritual cultural fabric for Afrikan liberty is a wonderful restoration and projection of the Afrikan life continuum for ascendancy.

In 1963(so-called) the progressive Afrikan leaders of the day in pursuance of total liberty convened on sacred soil to establish the Organisation of Afrikan Unity. It was at this illustrious ingathering that May 25th was designated Afrika Liberation Day (ALD). The observance date had been set and ever since Afrikan people around the world have celebrated this day on an annual basis. Established by sacred Afrikan souls, on sacred Afrikan soil - Afrika Ukombozi Siku is sacred observance. Of course, it is also right to express the sacredness of all Afrikan spiritual-cultural calendar observance and them all being interwoven imperatives of Afrikan  life.

During this time celebrations abound throughout the world whether on the continent or in the diaspora with glorious events organised to inspire, galvanise, learn, strategise, energise and so on. Fundamental to this, is that Afrika Ukombozi Siku is that special time wherever the Afrikan happens to be or whatever the Afrikan happens to be doing. On the 25th May it is the day of Afrikan liberty. A special day in Afrikan life, in the home, at the community gathering -wherever.

As the Afrikan progressively restores his and her spiritual and cultural way aesthetic questions such as ‘Are you going to ALD, this year?’ become redundant. Upon the arrival of May 25 - it is ALD. It is Afrika Liberation Day. It is Afrika Ukombozi Siku!

A wonderful observance with its own spiritual and cultural symbols, practices, expressions, efforts and celebration, Afrika Ukombozi Siku is surely a must for every Afrikan soul in the world.
