Celebrating the Wonderful Observance of Kwanzaa

The oneness Afrikan souls of the
world share with each other is illustrated through are variety of cultural
expressions. One such avenue of expression are the wisdom stories that have
been a part of Afrikan nation living throughout the ages. Throughout the
Afrikan continent stories have been told as great wisdom guiding tools to emphasise
cultural values and aid best living. Such stories carry deeply meaning
substance and have been the source of much inspiration and knowingness throughout
the ages.
Even with the severe disruptions of the Maafa of recent centuries Afrikan souls brought their wisdom stories to whatever geographical location in the world held their presence. According to one source:
“In the area of folklore, the Brer Rabbit, Brer Wolf, Brer Fox, and Sis Nanny Goat stories where part of the Wolof folk tales brought to America by the Hausa, Fulani and Mandika Other West Afrikan tales of tricksters and hares were also introduced. The hare story is found among the Yoruba, Igbo and the Edo-Bini peoples of Nigeria. Other examples of folklore from West Afrika are such tales as ,’Hare Tied in the Bean Farm’ and ‘Three Tasks of the Hare’. These tales, widespread among the Mandinka and Wolof, are common in Black folklore in the United States. The Anansi (spider) stories were Akan in origin and remained completely intact in the New World”.
Afrikans in the Americas, in the Islands in Europe and elsewhere have knowingness of their shared Afrikan wisdom stories that have been passed on generation-to-generation. In the Islands of New Afrika (so-called Caribbean) wisdom stories are recalled throughout the various locations and varying linguistic forms. According to one writer:
“we all share a common history and identity. Even when the language changes to French Creole (for example) you can still sense that unmistakable [Afrikan] philosophy at work in the language and customs”.
Afrikan souls have a highly important and valued wisdom stories that emanate from their own self-determined thrust of life. These stories empower Afrikan life and are expressions of oneness that the Afrikan world community can gloriously continue to share. The wonderful observance of Kwanzaa can provide a grand opportunity to share wisdom stories from the Afrikan world traditions to inspire and enlighten. Indeed, wisdom stories expressed from and about Kwanzaa itself could be a great boon to Afrikan life.
