This is a reiteration of an article first published on 14th November 2021

To be Afrikan is a gracious blessing of the Creator Supreme and is a descriptor of living identity for the primary and spirit people of creation. Beingness for the Afrikan soul is not a static concept of detached and isolated product of the intellect. Rather, being Afrikan holds the context of living in accord with the Afrikan way. This obviously consists of the natural fabric of the Afrikan’s own spiritual-cultural order. In other words, for the Afrikan to rightfully assert, ‘I am Afrikan’ naturally relays identity and describes a whole lived order. By contrast, to say ‘I am Afrikan regardless of the way I live’ can be fraught with inaccuracy especially if compounded with the contradiction of existing as a part of an alien way. Afrikan beingness is to be alive, functional and expressive in rightfulness from the context of the wholesome Afrikan living and order.

According to a mainstream platform, the word beingness means:

“The quality or state of existing, especially as distinct from having particular attributes; entity, actuality”.

Surely the quality of living for this primary people is naturally rooted to their spiritual-culture core. Afrikans certainly have distinctions biologically such as melanin dominance and anthropologically as the primary of humanity (to highlight just a couple of examples). This is all actuality. However, actuality can also point to the imperative process of self-cultivation and that which the Afrikan brings forth to be through self-determined effort.

Even with the interruptions and disruption of the Maafa in recent centuries have demonstrated their Afrikan beingness in wonderful ways. The restoration of cultural fabric through the wonderful observance of Kwanzaa is a powerful example. Kwanzaa is a progressive vehicle of actualising the Afrikan way. Or, to put it another way, bringing Afrikan beingness to the fore. With such a majorly important vehicle readily accessible to Afrikan souls throughout the world, the responsibility of restoring Afrikan beingness has been given a phenomenal boost. Now, much of the responsibility Afrikan people have is simply to pick up their own mantle to engage, ascend and fully flourish.

Through Kwanzaa and the Nguzo Saba Afrikan culture has been made available to Afrikan souls throughout the world as fertile ground awaiting each and every Afrikan to plant their seed of rooted engagement. To make real their Afrikan way as lived progressive experience throughout the various levels of the self from person to nation and beyond is the assertion of Afrikan beingness.

From the then, now and into the eternity, Afrikan people can and must surely continue to be in all of with all of the grand substance of their own making for self-elevation. Year-on-year the Afrikan self-determined yield of ever-greater beingness and ascension can be celebrated through the wonderful observance of Kwanzaa.
