Celebrating the Wonderful Observance of Kwanzaa (Annual Reaffirmation)

At the core of the wonderful observance of Kwanzaa are the powerful values of the Nguzo Saba (Seven Principles). Each day of the observance gives focus to its respective principle. The fourth day of Kwanzaa is identified with the principle Ujamaa which is beautifully summarised in mission compelling detail thus:

Ujamaa (Cooperative Economics)

To build and maintain our own stores, shops and other businesses and to profit from them together.

Here, all-year-round effort for Afrikan economic self-reliance is given focus whatever else maybe considered compelling as a survival strategy.

On the day of Ujamaa (Cooperative Economics) the greeting Habari Gani? (What’s the news?) is replied to with Ujamaa.

On the day of Ujamaa, the second red candle of the Mishumaa Saba (Seven Candles) is lit to illuminate and energise the pragmatic cultural prowess of Ujamaa.

On the day of Ujamaa, KWANZAA YENI IWE NA HERI (May Your Kwanzaa Be With Happiness).
