Omowale Malcolm X and Kwanzaa  (Part 2)

The Ultimate Divine brought Afrikan souls into being with abundant means by which to fulfil their maximum potential and maximum capability. This primary and spirit people of creation ushered their own culture into being to live life of optimal empowerment for themselves. The high-culture basis of life has been with the Afrikan from the earliest of times and is the stuff of rooted and continual generational growth and development. With the devasting disruptions to Afrikan life caused by others that mean the Afrikan ill, the thrust of creative restoration has naturally come to the fore. One of the exceptional examples of this thrust has been the observance of Kwanzaa. Through their philosophy of Kawaida  (Tradition), the Us organisation brought forth a wonderful age-to-age Afrikan world synthesis of Afrikan cultural ‘best’ out of which this first fruits celebration emerged. A key source of inspiration for the work of the Us organisation is the great hero Omowale Malcolm X.

The leader of the Us organisation shares his views on the impact of Omowale Malcolm X thus:

“Key to the Kawaida project is its concerns with the development of a logic and language of liberation. This stress on the need for liberational logic was suggested by Malcolm X. In some of his lectures at Harvard in the 60’s, he states that in a context of oppression and resistance the oppressed must not look ‘toward the oppressor to give them a system or form of logic or reason’. On the contrary, the logic of the oppressed must be and is different from the logic of the oppressor. For ‘what is logical to the oppressor is not reason to the oppressed’. Oppression he suggests, is reasonable to the oppressor, but it is not reasonable to the oppressed. Thus, a new and different ‘system of reason and logic’ must be devised by the oppressed if they ‘want to get results in the [fight] for liberation”.  

The principle of Imani (Faith) is the lasting 7th day energy of the Kwanzaa observance and it also ushers into being the new annual cycle. Omowale Malcolm X is a great hero of Imani (Faith) and his tremendous impact for the emergence of Kwanzaa and otherwise lives on.
