Celebrating the Wonderful Observance of Kwanzaa

At the core of the wonderful observance of Kwanzaa are the powerful values of the Nguzo Saba (Seven Principles). Each day of the observance gives focus to its respective principle. The fifth day of Kwanzaa is identified with the principle Nia which is beautifully summarised in mission compelling detail thus:
Nia (Purpose)
To make our collective vocation the building and developing of our community in order to restore our people to their traditional greatness.
From a level of essential knowing of Afrikan traditional greatness, all-year-round effort for the realisation of Afrikan greatness in the now and in time to come is purpose indeed.
On the day of Nia (Purpose) the greeting Habari Gani? (What’s the news?) is replied to with Nia.
On the day of Nia, the second green candle of the Mishumaa Saba (Seven Candles) is lit to illuminate and energise the pragmatic cultural prowess of Nia.
On the day of Nia, Kwanzaa Yenu Iwe Na Heri (May Your Kwanzaa Be With Happiness).
