Reiteration of an article first published 18th September 2019. Celebrating the Afrikan History Continuum.

The Creator Supreme is the bringer forth of all life and phenomena in the sacred universe. The marvellous Afrikan souls have always been deeply knowing of this. As such this primary and spirit people have used their genius flow in their divinely ascribed role as principal caretakers in the world. The self-governing ones of natural and righteous order. It is therefore, crucial that Afrikan people eternally know who they are and their central role in the sacred universe. Not only is this important for the rightful and continual flow of Afrikan ascendancy but also for righteous to prevail on earth.  The Sankofa bird is powerful representation of the living eternal Afrikan continuum of past, present and future referred to as history. Sankofa means, ‘go back and fetch it’. It is represented as the mythical bird with its head turned backwards holding an egg in its beak. It is also represented as a heart shaped symbol with curling design. Both images are deeply meaningful. The following are the eleven aspects or parts of Sankofa depicted in its bird likeness as organically synthesised and articulated by this author with Kiswahili identifiers. The Kiswahili word for parts is Sehemu. The Kishwahili phrase for eleven is Kumi na Moja:

Sehemu  Kumi Na Moja Za Sankofa

Mabawa ya Sankofa (Wings of Sankofa) – Symbol of the Afrikan soul and the eternal history continuum. These are the wings of divine protection and righteousness that ensure the Afrikan history flow that unfolds from one generation to the next harmonises with the sacred universe and is safeguarded with integrity.

Yai ya Sankofa (Egg of Sankofa) – Symbol of creation, procreation and regeneration. This is the symbol that represents Afrikans being the marvellous first and spirit people of Creation. This the beginning of the Afrikan history continuum. It is a symbol of the imperative continual onward and upward flow of Afrikan life. The Afrikan is brought to be by the Creator Supreme and it is vital that self-nurtured reproductive flow for ever-ascending history to be made is fabric of life.

Mdomo wa Sankofa (Beak of Sankofa) - This symbolises learning and articulation of and from the Afrikan soul. The whole experience of the primary people of Creation must be an effort of self-determined articulation to empower the race. The Afrikan must articulate their own journey, their own experience, their own history.

Manyoya ya Sankofa (Feathers of Sankofa) - These represent the totality of Afrikan souls throughout the world and the responsibility each has to reveal to themselves the truth of their own experience to inform life’s expression and to restore and maintain righteous order upon earth.

Futi ya Sankofa (Feet of Sankofa) - This is a symbol of the grand and victorious royal monarchs of humanity - Afrikans.  These are feet of fortitude and stability that are rooted to sacred Afrikan soil, the most richly endowed land on earth and cradle of humanity and civilisation.

Mguu ya Sankofa (Legs of Sankofa) - This is a symbol of the steadfastness in the onward march of Afrikan progression. This a march of fortitude, strength and power guided by deep knowingness and informed projections of Afrikan history continuum.

Mwili wa Sanfoka  (Body of Sankofa) - This is symbol representing the living history continuum as Afrikan history is of substance and beingness. It is not disconnected, discrete nor lodged in the realms of some abstract repository. Rather Afrikan history is a living breathing organic flow that is expressed from every Afrikan soul.    This marvellous people are the living institutions of their history continuum.

Kichwa cha Sankofa (Head of Sankofa) - Turned backwards the head represents the knowingness of all that has been throughout the most prolific, expansive and richly endowed journey of humanity – that of the Afrikan. It is the claiming of divine inheritance from the vast pantheon of Great Ancestors with all of the exceptional achievements and profound wisdom tradition manifest from time immemorial. It is all that will inform, guide and shape the continual thrust of global Afrikan ascendancy.

Mkufu  Wa Sankofa (Neck of Sankofa) - The neck symbolises all of the necessary endeavours in life that will keep the Afrikan history continuum elevated to its rightful place of eminence. In this, the imperative of life-long learning and life application is a generational key to the fullest flourishes of this great people.

Mkia wa Sankfoka (Tail of Sankofa) – This is the symbol of direction. Direction is key to the upward progression of Afrikan life and history fundamentally informs this. Navigation to purpose filled destiny is key. In fetching from history course for destination remains right and true. Mistakes of the past are also avoided and victories are forever realised.

Jicho la Sankofa (Eye of Sankofa) - The eye of this bird is an eye of holistic vision. It symbolises the looking into what has been, surveying the panorama of the now and the focus of the ever-progressive journeying ahead. The more richly informed the Afrikan is of his or her own experience in the world the greater and more richly endowed the forward journey becomes.

Sankofa depicted as the curly heart-shaped symbol simply summarises all of the above. In addition, it emphasises the heart of Afrikan self love Moyo wa Sankofa (Heart of Sankofa). Like the Ibis of Djehuti from the Ancient Nile Valley Sankofa is deified living articulation. When the Ibis sleeps it tucks its head into its feathers and its body forms the shape of a heart. The Sanfofa heart shaped symbol becomes self-love in the study articulation, reclamation, restoration and living of Afrikan history as the Afrikan soul continues to climb on the imperative path of global Afrikan ascendancy.

In this time of foreign enemy disruptions of genocidal disorder, the spiritual and cultural process of Sankofa is vital and urgent. As ever greater numbers of Afrikan souls recognise and restore their spiritual and cultural fabric history becomes more than simply intellectual stimuli from the important learning processes that must be in place. It is divine beingness elevated onto the plane of knowingness for Afrikan  maximum potential and capability to be achieved. During the wonderful observance of Afrikan Historia Msimu the powerful  Sankofa bird is an elevated essential of the period that continues its journey of uplift and empowerment of the Afrikan soul all year round.
