Remembering Omowale Malcolm X

The Creator Supreme has blessed the Afrikan to live sacred life in holistic oneness in centrality of the sacred universe. As such the spiritual and cultural observances of the Afrikan calendar cycle reflect that oneness. In this, observances are spirit energisers and enliveners for all-year-round living. These vital times of year do not confine spirit but rather nurture, groom and shape Afrikan souls to fully flourish with each observance highlighting its special focus. From observance to observance holistic living and oneness of spirit becomes ever more deeply manifest. The important observance of Omowale Malcolm X Kukumbuko of the Universal Royal Afrikan Nation energises spirit with its special focus on Heru, Ogun as manifest in Omowale through remembrance. The spirit of this great hero flows throughout the annual cycle, an example of which, is the wonderful observance of Ujamaa Kiburi Siku (Afrikan Economic Pride Day).
Omowale Malcolm X shares his insights on the importance of Afrikan people having their own economy as part of the imperative for self-governance:
“The economic philosophy of Black Nationalism only means that we should own and operate and control the economy of our community”.
“you will let anybody come in and take control of the economy in your community. Control the housing, control the education, control the jobs, control the businesses under the pretext that you want to integrate. No, you’re out of your mind!”
“The economic philosophy of Black Nationalism only means that we have to become involved in a programme of re-education to educate our people into the importance of knowing that when you spend [money] out of the community in which you live, the community in which you spend your money becomes richer and richer. The community out of which you take your money becomes poorer and poorer. And because these [so-called] negroes, who have been mislead, mis-guided are breaking their necks to spend their money with ‘the man’ – ‘the man’ is becoming richer and richer and you are becoming poorer and poorer. And then what happens? The community in which you live becomes a slum. It becomes a ghetto. The conditions become run-down. And then you have the audacity to complain about poor housing and a run-down community. Why, you run it down yourself when you take your money out”.
“[the Afrikan] for the past four-hundred years has been like a boy in the white man’s house begging the white man for a job, for food, clothing and shelter and then after the white man provides him with all of these things he turns around and has the nerve to get angry at the white man when the white man tries to control his life. How can a group of people such as our people who own no factories, have equal job opportunities competing against a race that owns the factories. The only way the two can have equal job opportunities is if Black people have factories as well as white people have factories… But as long as the factories are in the hands of whites, the housing is in the hands of the whites, the school system is in the hands of the whites the Blacks are constantly begging the whites – can they use this or can they use that. That’s not any kind of equality of opportunity nor does it lead towards ones dignity”.
“You take the people who are in this audience right now. They’re poor, we’re all poor as individuals. Our weekly salary individually amounts to hardly anything. But if you take the salary of everyone in here collectively it’ll fill up a whole lot of baskets. It’s a lot of wealth. If you can collect the wages of just these people right here for a year, you’ll be rich – richer than rich. When you look at it like that, think how rich uncle sam had to become, not with this handful but millions of Black people. Your and my mother and father, who didn’t work an eight-hour shift, but worked from “can’t see” in the morning until “can’t see” at night, and worked for nothing, making the white man rich, making uncle sam rich”.
Using money as a vice of manipulation has been one of the tactics used by alien forces. In a visit from the FBI and interactions from other foreign forces Omowale would not allow himself to be bribed and misused against his people:
“[FBI] Agent: Sometimes you are convinced, but sometimes money brings out the information. I don’t intend to insult you here.
Malcolm: According to the Secretary of the Treasury, this Government’s money is in trouble. According to Government economists, the dollar itself is in so much trouble a person would be a fool to sell his soul for one of these decreasing dollars”.
“The Arabs and certain powerful groups within Islam really wanted Malcolm on their side. There was a serious attempt to persuade Malcolm to turn…and establish a separate Islamic group based on what they considered to be orthodox Islam. They offered him three and a half million. He turned it down and we were walking down the street toward his car and this man had turned down three and half million dollars. He wacked me on the shoulder and said, ‘Swine-eater, let me buy you a cup of coffee’”.
