Celebrating Marcus Garvey and the Garvey Movement

The supreme visionary, Marcus Garvey knew the inherent power Afrikan souls have when progressively working in structured order of ascension. For Garvey, Afrikan organisation is a natural imperative and he articulated this in a number of different ways. Using the structure and selected elements of the organisational framework from the Master Plan  of Chancellor Williams, the derivation can be detailed thus:

Spiritual-Cultural Order

Order of Self-Governance

Order of Economic Planning and Development

Order of Education

Order of Intelligence and Security

Order of Media and Communications

The great hero, Marcus Garvey powerfully and insightfully articulated the following in relation to the element of Spiritual-Cultural Order:

“Never deny that there is a [Creator Supreme], being Universal Intelligence that creates. [The Afrikan] is a part of the creation. So Universal Intelligence and [the Afrikan] was created in the image and likeness of [the Creator Supreme] ,only by [this ultimate] intelligence. It is the intelligence of [the Afrikan] that is like [the Creator Supreme]; but [the Afrikan’s] intelligence is only a unitary particle of [the Creator’s] Universal Intelligence”.

“There are two understandings of [the Creator Supreme]…the scientific and the sentimental. The [Afrikan] assumes the sentimental idea, and therein he makes his mistake. We must not blame [the Creator] for our servile condition, because [the Creator] gave us our physical self and made us lords of creation”

“Let all the world know that this is the hour; this is the time for our salvation. Prayer alone will not save us; sentiment alone will not save us. We have to work and work and work if we are to be saved…the time is now to preach the beautitude of bread and butter. I have contributed my bit to preaching this”

“Its is through institutions of a race that the civilisations and culture of the race are built. The [Afrikan] should occupy himself in cultivating his own culture and ultimately achieving his own civilised ends, so that in the comparison of racial achievements, he may by able to stand out distinctly on those achievements on his own account as others may do”.
