Cloth of Red, Cloth of Black, Cloth of Green in the Closing Ritual of Musa Msimu

As with all creative expressions that emanate from the genius flow gifted upon the Afrikan by the Creator Supreme, the woven fabric of cloth carries profound meaning. Afrikan woven fabric of cloth is brought about by a sophisticated process of development that has been cultivated since the earliest of times. The materials selected, the colours applied, the patterns and exquisite designs each carry symbolic meaning and are then brought together in beautifulness and complementarity to adorn the Afrikan person or otherwise. Fabric can represent life specialism or role, family or nation. Specific fabrics are associated with special times of year throughout the Afrikan life-cycle to empower and lift the Afrikan soul to occasion. The supreme visionary Marcus Garvey furnished Afrikan souls of the world with the mighty fabric of colours Red, Black and Green. Raised aloft in the Bendera ya Taifa, these colours can be found adorning the Afrikan body and otherwise during the observance of Musa Msimu. Within the closing ritual of Musa Msimu the energy expressed through cloth of red is shared, energy expressed through cloth of black is shared and energy expressed through cloth of green is shared. The collective folding of each during this important time symbolises the season closure and the potency of unfolding to come as the spirit of Garvey and the Garveyite continuum lifts the Afrikan soul in victory throughout the year. The Kiswahili word for cloth is Kitambaa. The Kiswahli word for Victory is Ushindi. Kitambaa Cha Ushindi is the Cloth of Victory.
During the genocidal abomination of the Maafa of recent centuries the wicked forces of anti-Afrikan agency have attempted to completely strip the Afrikan of their garments and cloth. From the chattel plantation of being forced into the wearing of cast-off rags to the often unspoken imposition of being compelled to wear foreign pseudo-standards of dress such as the noose (tie) and suite for survival purposes, the suppression of Afrikan fabric represents subjugation, alienation from self and host of other ills.
Marvellously, ever-greater numbers of Afrikans are reclaiming and restoring the spiritual and cultural fabric of cloth and garments to Afrikan life. Foundationally, and outside the clutches of enemy controlled institutions Afrikan souls can step further away from survival mode and gravitate to a position of more natural freedom and harness of the colours of their own cloth. The closing ritual Musa Msimu (and the observance as a whole) is an expression of this foundation and an enlivener for total and ultimate Afrikan freedom.
The powerful spiritual and cultural enrichment of the Red, the Black and Green is a mighty inheritance of grandeur. These are the colours of global Afrikan ascendancy and imperative victory. Let the Afrikan wrap, fold or unfold his or her cloth of liberty and nationhood now and into eternity to come and assert their Kitambaa Cha Ushindi. In the words of the supreme visionary himself:
‘When I am dead wrap the mantle of the Red, Black and Green around me, for in the new life I shall rise with God’s grace and blessing to lead the millions up the heights of triumph with the colours that you well know.’
The observance of Musa Msimu takes place during the month of so-called August and is a wonderful time to celebrate the mighty example of Marcus Garvey and the Movement that he created led in order for future generations of Afrikans to have their guide for complete freedom and nationhood. Musa Msimu is a part of the Afrikan Cultural calendar of the Universal Royal Afrikan Nation (URAN).
