Kwanzaa – Proverbs of Collective Work and Responsibility

The wonderful wisdom filled utterances that emerge from throughout the Afrikan world are a result of the marvellous qualities of genius that have been gifted by the Creator Supreme. From the development of the first, most magnificent and longest-lived civilisations of the world delivered in all their splendour by the Afrikan, came profound and long-lasting utterances wisdom. Throughout the world Afrikans still retain the utterances of their wisdom tradition through proverbs. Whether on the great Afrikan continent itself or throughout the diaspora, the substance of age-old Afrikan wisdom is illuminated through proverbs. In celebrating the wonderful observance of Kwanzaa the glory of Afrikan wisdom is part of the festivities. Here follows a select sample of seven traditional Afrikan proverbs adapted by this author in relation to the principle Collective Work and Responsibility of the Nguzo Saba (Seven Principles) - Ujima. These proverbs are expressed from the beautiful language of Kiswahili with their loose approximate meaning detailed in the alien pseudo-language of English: 

Ujima (Collective Work and Responsibility)

Mungu haampuuzi mtu anayefanya kazi kwa faida ya taifa la Afrikana
The Creator Supreme does not ignore the person working in the interest of the Afrikan nation.

Ikiwa mto uko juu, ni kwa sababu mito mingine imejiunga na umoja wa mtiririko.
If a river is high, it is because other rivers have joined in oneness of flow. 

Kazi haitaendelea ikiwa mtu hajazidisha ujuaji wa kujiona wa kibinafsi.
The work will not progress if one does not increase the living knowingness of self. 

Kila hatua ya uhakika na ya kweli ilifanya kufupisha matembezi ya kwenda kwa marudio.
Every sure and genuine step made shortens the walk.to the destination.  

Ikiwa punda anafanya kazi maisha yake yote ili kumtumikia bwana mgeni mwovu, ndege wa mawindo huridhika kutoka maisha yake na ndege tu wa mawindo ndio wanaoridhika katika kifo chake.
If the donkey works all his life only to serve a wicked alien master, the vultures are satisfied from its life and only the vultures are satisfied  in its death. 

Kazi kwa taifa la Afrika lazima ifanyike.
Work for the Afrikan nation must be done.

Kulima kwa pamoja kwa udongo kunaleta afya kwa taifa la Afrika.
The collective tilling of the soil brings health to the Afrikan nation.
