“[I’d] always followed the American civil rights struggle and I saw him as very much the person who was making the most sense to me. I didn’t believe in those days that non-violence was going to be the answer. In fact, I really am surprised at the extent to which America, short of a violent overthrow or a violent upsurge, would have agreed to go along with the degree of social changes that have taken place. So, my hopes were on Malcolm X”.
