Remembrance is Kukumbuko

From the beginning the mighty and primary people of Creation have produced powerful and great ones that have exemplified the pinnacle of human excellence – Afrikan excellence. The vast and unparalleled plethora of great ones that are highlighted throughout the annals of history provide the ever-growing organic fabric and strength for each forthcoming generation. Each generation, in turn is empowered from the greatness of before to produce mighty examples in their time and empower those to come. In this, remembrance is key in the spirit flow continuum of greatness from one generation to the next. Excellent deeds are recalled, lessons are learned, spirit is imbibed and the imperative of the ever upward Afrikan continuum is enshrined. In remembrance, legacy is eternal. The Kiswahili word for remembrance is Kukumbuko.
With devastation of the Maafa imposed by the forces of anti-Afrikan agency and genocidal imposition of the plantation Afrikan people have had much severing from their continuum of remembrance. Despite the vicious enemy attempts to wipe out the memories of greatness that Afrikan people held of themselves from time immemorial the powerful spirit of the Afrikan could not be vanquished and the remembrance continuum continued to reveal itself as Afrikans fought unrelentingly to be free. Hero upon hero, shero upon shero emerged again and again throughout the Afrikan world to lift a whole people from the bowels of horror into which they had been hurled by the barbaric world minority enemy.
Entering the upper part of the so-called twentieth century the effort to be ascend to freedom became a huge torrent of organisational prowess that had never before been seen. The supreme visionary Marcus Garvey established and led the massive UNIA to bring about liberty and nationhood for ‘the four-hundred million’ Afrikan people of the world. This movement progressively spawned the spirit of liberty in the subsequent generation. None better exemplified this natural spirit inheritance than the great Omowale Malcolm X. The substance of Garveyism lived on in Malcolm as Race First, Self-Reliance and Nationhood continued its imperative journey for Afrikan uplift throughout the world. This mission to attain and maintain their rightful and Creator ascribed place as divine royalty in Afrikan oneness from whatever continent, country or island they happened to be was and is to realised.
Omowale Malcolm X, loving, courageous, disciplined, integrity-filled, tireless, dedicated – these are just a few of the qualities that were substance of this magnificent hero as a leader, freedom fighter, nation-builder and powerful exponent of Afrikan cultural revolution. Unfortunately, many still highlight any association he had with a foreign contemporary religious doctrine as the totality and his principle reason to be. This could not be further from the truth as the great hero Omowale Malcolm X lived and paid the ultimate physical price to see Afrikan people throughout the world free and flourishing.
The spirit of the Afrikan transcends the physical and Omowale continues to live in the souls of the magnificent spirit people of the world who are able to successfully organise, build, independently learn of their experience, reclaim their history, culture, protect and defend themselves (amongst much else) because of the effort of excellence that emanates from this hero.
A spiritual and cultural period of remembrance is not only important because of his genius-filled excellence and pinnacle acumen for Afrikan liberty but because of what he represents. He represents the continuing thrust of Afrikan betterment that has been manifest from time immemorial. He represents the vast multitudes of Afrikan people he taught, organised or inspired during his physical life’s journey. He represents the continuing and growing number of those touched by his powerful example in this time and time to come. For Omowale remembrance is not simply remembering a great Afrikan leader - it is the progressive reflective and projective honorarium of a whole people – male, female, young or more senior. As was articulated in the eulogy of his martyrdom, ‘in honouring Malcolm we honour the best in ourselves’. Kukumbuko for Omowale Malcolm X is remembrance continuum for global Afrikan ascendancy.
Omowale Malcolm X Kukumbuko is a part of the cultural calendar of the Universal Royal Afrikan Nation (URAN).
