Celebrating the Great Marcus Garvey and the Garvey Movement

The supreme
visionary Marcus Garvey, articulated his mission, vision and purpose
exceptionally well during the course of his physical lifespan. Yet,
unfortunately, alien forces that mean the Afrikan ill persist in the concoction
of bogus propaganda to reduce, malign or otherwise disrupt progressive Afrikan
elevation. Probably one of the most prevalent misconceptions peddled concerning
this great hero is that that the sum total of his reason for being a physical ‘Back-to-Afrika’
mission. This of course is sheer folly for this exceptional proponent and
architect of global Afrikan ascension.
In Garvey’s own words:
“We are not preaching any doctrines to ask all the [Afrikans]…to leave for Afrika. The majority of us will remain here, but we must send our scientists, our mechanics, and our artisans, and let them build railroads, let them build the great educational and other institutions necessary”
“Afrika must be linked to the United States, to South and Central America, to the [so-called Caribbean] by vessels which will unite in fraternal ties the ebony-hued sons of [Afrika] in the western hemisphere with their brothers across the sea”
Marcus Garvey’s second and eternal wife, Amy Jacques Garvey, also articulated the following:
“The main purpose of the formation and promotion of the Black Star Line was to acquire ships to trade between the units of the race – in Afrika, the USA, the [so-called Caribbean] and Central America, thereby building up an independent economy by business, industry, and commerce, and to transport our people whither they will – on business or pleasure, without being given inferior accommodation, and not subject to questioning or refusal of any sort of accommodation”.
Honest observations have also been forthcoming from more contemporary writings:
“To assume that the political thinking of Marcus Garvey, his aim in life, and the reasons for his organizing the most powerful contemporary political movement in the [Afikan] world, can be reduced to the ‘objective’ of shipping more than a hundred million [Afrikans] to Afrika, is the greatest insult we could render to a[n Afrikan] man of Garvey’s political stature….Not once did Garvey urge or envision the migration of all the [Afrikans] in the western hemisphere to Afrika”.
It is surely imperative for Afrikan souls to have knowledge of their own experience in the world, independently of the alien institutions that peddle bogus anti-Afrikan propaganda via curricular or other means. The Afrikan continuum is rich will superlative excellence and powerful example. Marcus Garvey certainly is of pinnacle greatness and stands as a brilliant beacon for Afrikan empowerment in the now and in time to come. The truth must be brought to the fore.
