Celebrating the Great Marcus Garvey and the Garvey Movement

The supreme visionary Marcus
Garvey expressed huge volume of instructive wisdom through his insightful
articulations. Here, volume is not
necessarily a description of an enormous mass of words (though there is a vast array of
material left for Afrikan souls by this great hero), but more so in relation to the depth of meaning and substance of its worth
to the Afrikan world. Even the concise phrase or the small extract can be
massively impactful for Afrikan
betterment. The exceptional spirit of Garvey is both powerful and dynamic one that expressed the range
of extensive to concise as he saw fit. It is sometimes useful to highlight portions
from larger expression to draw attention to a particular area of focus to
energise progress. In a powerful piece that he called, ‘Afrikan fundamentalism’
Garvey shared great wealth of insight. One sentence reads:
“We must…elevate to positions of fame and honour [Afrikan] men and women who have made their distinct contributions to our racial history”
In this, Garvey challenges Afrikan souls to celebrate and energise themselves for ascension by honouring those that enrich Afrikan world history. It is a challenge for Afirkan souls throughout the world to be self-determined and hold living knowingness of themselves enough to honour those amongst their number that distinctly lift the Afrikan world community toward betterment.
Garvey, himself was destined to be great amongst those whom he honoured. In his honouring of great ones before him and those around him he embodied the victorious the spirit worthy of great honour in himself.
Afrikan souls can surely honour their own great souls and as Garvey himself eloquently stated, ‘let contrary or cross-opinions go to the wind’. Each and every Afrikan soul can surely look into their respective mirror of self and reveal their most honourable beingness in the elevation of the race.
Some of those considered to be well-learned and prominent within the higher realms of academia, and other ‘mainstream’ institutions were amongst the most vicious proponents of the ‘Garvey Must Go!’ campaign. Having unleashed a barrage of anti-Garvey havoc-causing propaganda during his physical lifespan, well-known detractors would later acknowledge Garvey’s greatness and express regret in regard to their actions.
Afrikan souls can surely learn valuable lessons from the Garvey experience in this time. Whilst the upright cycle of racial honour, pride, dignity and excellence is grand engagement, the unfortunate self-destructive cycles surely ought to be the thing abandoned.
Garvey, victoriously reminds Afrikan souls of the world of the call to duty:
“Remember we live, work and pray for a binding racial hierarchy, the founding of a racial empire, who’s only natural, spiritual and political limits shall be [the Creator] and Afrikans at home and abroad”
