Celebrating the Great Marcus Garvey and the Garvey Movement

In today’s
world where there are Afrikan souls who have been without a father in
their life physically and otherwise, and thus there is an unnatural imbalance that can
present itself is life expression. Yet, the longest line of fatherhood in the world is naturally
of the primary people - Afrikan people. The Afrikan ancestral
plain is abundantly enriched with the greatness of Afrikan fatherhood at every level. The
great Marcus Garvey became a proud father through his harmonious and
complementary union with Amy Jacques Garvey, he is also eloquently described as
a ‘Father of Afrikan Nationalism’. A phrase which enshrines his superlative
vision and mission for global Afrikan ascension. This supreme visionary shared
these empowering words:
“We all know in the history of human affairs that one generation works for the other. It is our duty now to work for the generation to follow us, as the generation of our fathers worked for us to make the present possible to us. I want to inspire you to the responsibility of that duty…we have an obligation to our fathers who were not Americans, who were not Canadians, but who were Afrikans, so we are dreaming and thinking and planning of the land and fatherland of our fathers, and our fathers expect much in that”.
Garvey, knew that honouring the land of the Afrikan fathers did not necessarily require a physical return:
“as some of us may never go back to the old country yet we have an undying love for the old country fit for our generations”.
For Garvey, the honour was in the upright building effort that Afrikan souls engaged in wherever located:
“The people of the Dominion are busy every day building and adding to the glory of their country”.
Thus to have faith in Afrikan fatherhood is to engage in the imperative mission to build for Afrikan betterment. Afrikan fathers must also surely reveal their fullest possible becoming in the now as an essential part of Afrikan continuity.
The alien ills set to destroy or otherwise derail Afrikan fatherhood ought to be purged from Afrikan life whatever guise it comes in and either as direct imposition or by proxy. Afrikan fatherhood is fundamental in Afrikan life and must remain as such, safeguarded for those great ones of the then, those in the now and those yet to come.
The great Marcus Garvey, a powerful spirit of fatherhood, holds living knowingness that he himself and the Afrikan world community at large have a duty that:
“our fathers expected we would undertake”.
